Senior Electrical Engineer

Department: Engineering
Reports to: Director of Engineering
FLSA Status: Exempt
Status: Full-time

JOB SUMMARY

Evaluates electricalsystems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of electricity and materials. Confirms system's and components' capabilities by designing testing methods; testing properties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Design, develop, prototype, and test digital, analog, and power circuitry for thermal printers
  • Perform design calculations and simulations for new circuit designs
  • Interface with parts vendors to maintain and expand the approved components list
  • Maintain and generate purchasing specs for purchased components
  • Follow the electrical design process as outlined in CTPG’s ISO system. 
  • Develop and execute testing plans to confirm system and component capabilities and specifications
  • Interface with and provide support to other departments of CTPG as necessary
  • Release design documentation to manufacturing for electrical circuit boards
  • Debug and determine field failures, determine root cause, and provide corrective actions

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of related engineering experience
  • Extensive experience with electrical schematic and layout software; Altium is a plus
  • Experience with Electromagnetic Compliance and Safety requirements (EN55032 ITE, EN61000), and the ability to troubleshoot and design for problems therein
  • Proficient with electrical testing and compliance equipment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel overseas to Asia (5% of time)
  • FPGA/ASIC development and VHDL programming a plus
  • Familiarity with firmware and software structure a plus
  • Familiarity with stepper motors, thermal print engines, or other electromechanical assemblies a plus

Project Leader/Compliance Engineer

Department: Engineering
Reports to: Director of Engineering
FLSA Status: Exempt
Status: Full-time

JOB SUMMARY

A Project Leader/Compliance Engineer supports projects (new design, design enhancements, design changes, and cost reductions) by coordinating activities between internal functions groups and with outside compliance agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Promote communication between team members, from team members to other engineering functional groups, and to the Director of Engineering.
  • Must facilitate the weekly cross-functional Project Realization Team (PRT) meetings.
  • Manage multiple projects across an array of various products.
  • Maintain compliance to REACH and RoHS requirements.
  • Align safety certifications for new products, product design enhancements, and design changes.
  • Coordinate safety certifications for emerging markets in other countries.
  • Coordinate/maintain safety files for current products.
  • Ensure that support activities are following the processes outlined in our ISO process manual.
  • Support the current production lines such that product quality is maintained and improved where possible.
  • Responsible for generating project estimates for compliance testing and certifications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • 7+ years of related engineering experience.
  • Must travel to customer sites and/or our contract manufacturers to solve technical issues as required.
  • Must maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
  • Experience leading teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be organized and capable of multi-tasking.
